Grand Avenue Road Diet

The City of Oakland is planning a road diet on Grand Avenue from Elwood Avenue to Jean Street. The project will reallocate the paved area to improve safety for road users. The current two travel lanes per direction are proposed to change to one vehicle lane and a bicycle lane each way and a center two-way left turn lane. See the proposed street cross-section below. Construction is anticipated in Fall 2015.

The public is encouraged to comment on the proposed road diet at the community meeting on July 8, 2015 or by submitting comments in writing, no later than July 15, 2015 to Philip Ho at pho@oaklandnet.com
